Some more pics

Grant assembling a panel. He had already been at it a few hours by this point. We have the side panels up and are working (mostly Grant at this stage)on the front.
Gave him a nectarine and promised him an early lunch. It was a beautiful day but still warm with the sun on his back. I kept him in water as I cleared the kitchen and made a cake to take to Brad and Leslie's Labour Day corn and burger supper.
The front is nearly done. I've finished my sanding and have taken a few more pics before running off to shower and make the boiled icing.

All the tools are away and only Grant's work space is left to do on the front. The panel for the top of the stairs is finished and ready to put up and then its on to the panels for the corners and stairs. That's for Tuesday night.
Here's what the view currently looks like out the back door.
I managed to get summer pots up on the front plinths this year. They'll be gone soon unfortunately, only to be replaced with some bright yellow mums in the new black winter boxes.
First section of handrail is up. It's not perfect but it will do. Velvet is checking it out. Happy to be outside despite the drizzle.
Grant posing with the poor barely adequate drill that survived helping make the actual deck and has put up the entirety of the railings

Only the bar and the stair railings remain to do! We were happy with how strong the floating corners turned out. It drizzled the whole day with only occasional stops, and bouts of real rain.

Us posing with our handywork. We need to learn to suck in our guts. This shot was made available by Grant, who took a moment to figure out the timer.

Here is the bar nearly done. I decided once it was up that the outer edge corners should be lopped off. Grant will take the skil saw to it tomorrow.
Here is the bar seen from the other side. You can see the new screen door for the front. That's the next project. I have to take down the back screen door and paint them both. I expect that'll be happening on Monday.

Here is the end of day shot from the steps. The tops and bottoms of the panels are dark because we used the old temporary railing to make them. I'll sand them down and with the semi-opaque stain they won't be noticable.
I'm hoping we'll get the stair rails done tomorrow and maybe a section of lattice up underneath before people show up for an early Birthday party for Grant. We're excercising the bbq rotisserie again.

Here is one of our end of day and we still love each other pic. This turned out really freaky because Grant had the cam set on night mode for a longer exposure. It's cool how our eyes are nearly in focus but the rest is blurry. Gives it a bit of the Shining appeal.
By this time you may have noticed our matching Tomahawk Technologies caps. An occasional geekfest attendee, Tybor, brought them for the 24 hr relay team. Rob managed to sucker Grant into running. Seems like they had fun, though.
